June 2008 - C&D llp, Santa Ynez Valleys largest accounting firm, has announced the addition of Stephen Palmer, CPA and Matthew Watson, CPA to the firms partnership ranks. They join Kathleen Campbell, Verva Enoch, Tammy Vogsland and Janet Olivera to help them with the responsibility for the continued management of the firms growth. Campbell became a partner in 1997, Enoch was promoted from Tax Manager to partner in 1999, Vogsland joined C&D in 2001 becoming a partner in 2003 and Janet Olivera became partner in 2005.
Palmer joined C&D in 1988 as a staff accountant. During his tenure at the firm he received his CPA designation and served in many capacities from staff accountant through to the position of Manager. Steve graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Business Economics, with an emphasis on accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs and has received the Personal Financial Specialist designation from the AICPA.
Steve puts a wealth of experience to work everyday, counseling business owners and individuals on complex tax matters and retirement planning Campbell said, adding, His common sense plain English style is valued by clients and his co-workers alike.
Watson has been working with C&D for several years now, in addition to running his own practice based in Carpinteria. In July Matt merged his firm with C&D.
Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Masters Degree in Taxation from Brigham Young University, Utah, consistently ranked within the top three schools in the country in accounting. He was employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers in Baltimore before moving to the Valley in 1999. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs.

July 2007 - C&D llp continues to grow, with the recent addition of Matthew J. Watson, CPA. Watson is merging his Carpinteria-based practice with that of C&D llp, one of the largest CPA firms in Santa Barbara County, effective July 1, 2007.
He has special expertise in tax compliance and planning for individuals and business entities. His background includes over 11 years in public accounting, including 5 years as a sole practitioner. He has broad experience in preparation of individual and business tax returns.
Matthew makes his home in Buellton, with his wife and two young children. He graduated with a degree in Accountancy and a Masters Degree in Taxation from Brigham Young University, Utah. He worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers before returning to the Central Coast. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. Matthew has been working at C&D for over 4 years in addition to running his own accounting practice. CRS Says 23 Million Will Be Subject to AMT in 2007
August 2006 - Absent legislative changes, some 23 million people will be subject to the alternative minimum tax in 2007, the Congressional Research Service reports.
CRS says that whether a taxpayer has itemized deductions will become a less important factor in determining exposure to the AMT than it is presently because married taxpayers across a wide range of incomes will be subject to the AMT regardless of whether they itemize.
