C&D llp hosted its annual luncheon on December 1st at the Alisal Guest Ranch for over 50 bookkeeping and accounting professionals. The event has been hosted by the accounting firm since 1994, and has become a favorite of bookkeeping professionals throughout the County. Attendees included bookkeepers, CFOs and controllers from leading firms both in Santa Ynez Valley and the Central Coast.
Partner Steve Palmer opened the event, welcoming guests and introducing C&D Partners and staff in attendance.
This year’s program, CyberSecurity, Risks, Responsibilities & Best Practices, was presented by John Hunt, CEO/President and Mike Husted, Senior Network Engineer of CompuVision and Vision Communications. John and Mike discussed the challenges businesses face with implementation of security measures to keep their customer, client and employee information safe. They stressed that data security is a shared responsibility between companies, their IT departments and their employees. There was discussion on what companies must do if their information is hacked, or even if there is a possibility of a hack. Other topics included email security best practices, red flags and how much of your personal identity is available on the internet.
